Guidelines for the Angelica Merchants’ Association 2010 CIVIL WAR WEEKEND PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST The Angelica Merchants’ Association (AMA) invites amateur photographers to enter the Photography Competition. Our aim is to obtain stunning images that can be used to promote this event in future years. Please read the following rules carefully before submitting any photos! The competition is open to ALL amateur photographers, except members of the AMA, their employees and immediate family members. By amateur photographer, we mean any beginning, amateur, or experienced photographers who do not receive a significant part of their income from photography. Images can be submitted in one of four categories:1) Fighting action shots with guns or other weapons at battles or skirmishes
2) Living re-enactors going about daily life in the encampment, and on Main Street
3) Society re-enactors at social activities including the parade, dance, church service, etc.
4) People portraits, candid shots, or other images featuring one or more re-enactors Images will be judged on: *Originality *Composition *Overall Impact *Promotional Quality *Accurate to the Period Judges' decisions will be final.
For inclusion in this photo contest, photos entries:
1) Must be taken on September 18 or 19, 2010. May be either black & white or color.
2) Must be submitted in digital format as jpg images with proper filename format. Printed photographs will not be accepted. If you prefer to shoot silver halide film, you must scan the images and submit them as jpg files
3) Must not exceed 2 mega pixels per image.
4) Minor digital enhancements to crop, filter, and correct are permitted, but images that have been judged to be significantly altered will be disqualified
5) Must be assigned to a category by the contestant and can only be entered into one category. All submissions must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM (EST) on Friday, October 31st, 2010. Contestants will receive verification by email that their photos were received (if an email address is provided). READ THE DETAILED SUBMISSION (INSTRUCTIONS BELOW) BEFORE SENDING PHOTOS! Winners will be announced and awards presented at the Annual Meeting of the AMA in December, 2010 (date TBD). All contestants will also be notified by email shortly afterwards. Detailed Submission Instructions: Only submissions that include pictures in the proper format will be eligible. Up to a total of eight photos are permitted per entrant for 2010. All submissions must be postmarked or transmitted no later than 11:59 PM (EST) on Friday, October 31st, 2010. Contestants will receive verification by email that their photos and were received, if an email address is provided.
