You are cordially invited to attend the 2010 Angelica Civil War Weekend.  This is our seventh year hosting a Civil War living history event in Angelica, NY, and we are expanding again this year to additional activities and amenities.  All impressions of military and civilian reenactors and your scenarios are welcome.  A School Education Day will be held on Friday September 17, 9:00am to 2:00pm.  Volunteers are needed to man the stations!

Due to ever increasing costs and loss of a significant local sponsor, there will be $5.00 advance registration fee this year.  Deadline for advance registration is September 3rd, 2010, and walk-ons will be $10.00.  Any funds collected which are not used for reenactor amenities will be donated to the Natural Heritage Trust Flag Project, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Activities include lots of Living History, encampment, two battles including spectacular downtown street tactical through the historic district each day.  A FREE beef on weck supper is served Friday evening for all reenactors.  Ladies’ Tea, Period Dance with City Fiddle, and other events as well.  Activities including Living History, a parade, and multiple scenarios.  Additional details at registration or on our website as available.

Dear Fellow Reenactor,

The Angelica Civil War Weekend began in 2004 as a program for the Allegheny Highlands Council Boy Scout fall camp-o-ree, and four years ago became a full fledged reenactment event. Any of the attendees from past years can tell you we host a fun event, and that the Angelica Community is substantially period-correct and VERY friendly to reenactors!

There are some big changes in the making for the event in 2010.  We will be leaving the fairgrounds and holding the event entirely at locations throughout the circa 1806 Village of Angelica. There will be several authentic camps in host yards along Main Street in the historic District, with sutlers in the Park Circle.  The battles will encompass both the street battles we have had in the past and open field portions.  While the Boy Scouts will still be participating, their camps will remain on the fairgrounds.  Many of the local community organizations will join in events to welcome the re-enactors, and in recreating the 1860’s.  Multiple scenarios throughout the period village are available for reenactors.  As always, we will have something new for you to try!

REGISTRATION & AMENITIES:  Due to the ever increasing costs, we must reluctantly charge a registration fee of $5.00 per person.   We regret having to make this provision, but the increasing expenses have exceeded our limited budget and we lost a major local sponsor.  Any net receipts over expenses will be donated to the fund to preserve NY Civil War battle flags.  There is still a FREE welcoming meal on Friday night, free good quality firewood, straw and hay, and sanitary facilities will be provided throughout the area of the camps.  Dinner specials are being offered by local organizations and dining establishments. We host one of the best Ladies’ Teas in the area on Saturday afternoon, and a dance with City Fiddle on Saturday night.  Pre-registration is required to obtain the amenities.

BOUNTIES:  We offer bounties only for the first 3 artillery pieces registered and taking the field on each side.  Pre-registration is required, and the postmark date will determine eligibility.

FOOD:  Friday 6:00pm until 9:00pm, a free Beef on Weck supper will be available for all reenactors (please bring your own plates and utensils).  A free “Continental” breakfast (pastries & juice) will be offered on Saturday morning, and the local Conservation Club will again hold their famous $6.00 all you can eat Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning.

LIVING HISTORY PROGRAMS & SCENARIOS:  We welcome any interested reenactors who may wish to help with the School Education Day on Friday the 17th and the Boy Scout living history program on Saturday morning the 18th.  Local schools are sending classes for the day on Friday, and the scouts will be learning about various aspects of the Civil War, and also holding their own battle on Saturday.  Anyone willing to help with the School Day or interpretive stations or the scout battle is welcome to join us.  Please note your availability for participation on the registration form or at Registration.  In addition, scenarios downtown in the village are also planned, and individuals willing to participate should note on the registration.
